I recently came across this message when opening NetBeans after updating my Java version.
There are no ill effects from clicking Yes, and everything works as normal within NetBeans, but it’s certainly annoying having to click Yes every time you open NetBeans.
It is available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Solaris. Downloading and installation process is very easy. You can easily follow these steps to download and install NetBeans 8.2 with Java JDK on Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows 10. How to Install NetBeans 8.2 With Java JDK on Windows. Probably not helpful, but also see NetBeans 8.2 does not open on Mac OS. 3 Could you update your question with a screen shot showing exactly where you get the 'No JDK found' error? – skomisa Sep 10 '20 at 19:06. JDK 7 or 8 is required if you are planning to use any of the Java features. JDK 7 Update 6 (or newer) is required to use JavaFX 2.2 (or newer) features in NetBeans IDE 8.1. JDK 8 is required to use JavaFX 8 features in NetBeans IDE 8.1. Note:. JavaFX 2.2 is bundled with the latest JDK 7 for Windows, Mac and Linux. I did this procedure: Installing Netbeans 8.2 on MacOS Big Sur no JDK found. I installed Java 8 and Netbeans 12.1. I couldn’t install Netbeans 8.2, fortunately the installer imports Netbeans 8.2 preferences.
I tried every menu I could find within NetBeans, but was unable to make the message go away. Thankfully, you can fix this message by editing a config file in the NetBeans installation directory located at /etc/netbeans.conf. You will need to open it as an administator to have permission to modify it. For me it was located at:
On MacOS you can find it at:
The line you are looking for is:
Which was on line 57 for me.
Simply change this to your current Java version or comment it out completely, and you should no longer see that annoying message! If you comment the line out (by putting a # at the start), the NetBeans launcher will automatically detect and use a JDK. This works for NetBeans 8 with Java 8 and beyond.
