These following steps will show you how to fix VMware installation problem (The MSI Failed).
- Windows 10 users have been complaining since the weekend that VMware Workstation no longer runs after a cumulative Windows 10 Update prevents it from starting. Only older versions of VMware Workstation are affected, but even users willing to pay for an upgrade may face other compatibility issues.
- Failed To Install Hcmon Driver Vsphere Right-click My Computer and click Manage.
- It did not worked for me on windows 10 build 1607 it may help someone else: my user is in administrator group and as a workaround i switched user (ctrl-alt del - switch user and choosed administrator) and then i ran the msi as administrator and it installed properly.

It cannot be installed – somewhere during installation, near installation of network adapter driver, it will fail and rollback. Or it will say hcmon driver installation failed and rollback.
Step 1:
1) Go to ‘Temp’ directory, located under user (profile folder) who does the installation/uninstallation in his computer.
C:Users(username)AppDataLocalTemp
or just go to 'win+R' type %TEMP%
...
2) Make sure none of the VMware installation or uninstallation process is running. Select and Delete all vmware files and folders in this location.
3) Restart the computer: 'win+R' type shutdown -r -t 0
.
Step 2:
Remove Vmware Workstation
After restarting the computer open command prompt and run the following commands.
'win+R' type
cmd
.Switch to admin:
runas /user:(username) cmd
enter password to run cmd as admin.Change directory where you have VMware setup:
cd d:vmware
Then lunch installation:
VMware-workstation.exe /x /v EULAS_AGREED=1
, you should add/v EULAS_AGREED=1
to enable licence agreement.Wait for a while and click next then modify...
enjoy the installation

- Hundreds of new games and applications can now run in Fusion and Workstation!
Increased Hardware Maximums: MONSTER VMS
- Both Fusion and Workstation Tech Preview 20H2 support up to 32 processors and up to 128GB of RAM per virtual machine, as well as 4GB of shared graphics memory
Sandboxed Graphics Processes
Vmware Workstation Failed To Install Hcmon Driver Windows 10 32-bit
- We’ve dramatically enhanced virtual machine security by using a special non-root “sandbox” process for rendering 3d hardware assisted graphics. This further isolates the Guest VM operations from the Host, significantly reducing the viability of privilege escalation to the host.
To get started with DX11, VMware Tools needs to be upgraded, and the Virtual Hardware Compatibility version must be set to v18. Existing VMs can be upgraded by adjusting the virtual hardware compatibility while the VM is powered off. After power-on, you can then upgrade VMware tools as you normally would. With new VMs you may need to manually set the virtual hardware version to v18 before installing, so double check.
