- The JDK is missing and is required to run some NetBeans modules. Please use the -JDK home command-line option to specify a JDK installation I tried setting JAVAHOME to the JDK path but it didn't work. So, I uninstalled Netbeans and JDK and re-downloaded Netbeans 8.2 and JDK 8.
- Ive downloaded Netbeans 8.2 on mac sierra with the JDK and JR version 8. Everytime I try to execute the program it will try and load but then it will then just vanish. Ive tried with all versions of netbeans 8.2, 8.1, 8.0 etc. And Ive tried using both JDK of 9 and then 8.
- After installing Java 9 on my Mac, Netbeans 8.2 options to start new project, or open settings, don’t work. Netbeans is using the latest version of Java on my Mac, but I want the IDE itself to use Java 8; which it is more compatible with.
To run the samples, you must have the JDK 8 software. Since the samples include the corresponding NetBeans projects files, using the NetBeans IDE is the simplest way to run the sample applications. However, you can also run them using the Ant utility, Eclipse, or IntelliJ IDEA. See below for more information.
NetBeans (@ http://netbeans.org) is an open-source Integrated Development Environment (IDE). NetBeans began in 1996 as a Java IDE student project at Charles University in Prague. Sun Microsystems acquired NetBeans in 1999. In 2010, Oracle acquired Sun (and thus NetBeans).
Compared with its rival Eclipse (http://www.elicpse.org) (both are open-source, so I don’t know what are they competing for?), NetBeans provides seamless support for Java AWT/Swing, Java ME mobility pack, Java EE, and bundled with an excellent profiler for performance tuning.
NOTE (2018 Feb 01): NetBeans 8.2 might not work with JDK 9 at this moment. Stick to JDK 8 now, if you want to use NetBeans.
